Outdoor Maths at Minard

Week One Collaborative work on the times tables through active learning in class. Minard's P4 led the outdoor addition and subtraction treasure hunt by giving clear instructions before we began and used up loads of energy racing round making sure everyone understood what they had to do! We worked together in teams to get the answers and follow the clues. Week Two The Argyll summer was not very summery so we did our Outdoor Maths indoors with Minard P4 who took a turn at being teacher.

Week Three:-Furnace and Minard boys practising the skills of teamwork, creativity and encouragement today whilst constructing a 3D shape out of twigs- A good start to Maths Week

Thursday morning saw Minard and Furnace children practice their times tables in an active fashion then they took to the playground to see how many throws of the bean bag were needed to cover 100m. Lots of measuring and subtracting.

Week Four- "Pine Cone Takeaway", Outdoor Clock and natural obstacle course reinforced maths knowledge and team building skills.
