Burns Competition 2017

On Friday 27th January pupils from both Furnace and Minard Primary Schools went to Inveraray Primary School for our Robert Burns competition. Marie (P6), Andrew (P6), Nicola (P7) and PJ (P7) were our representatives.
The first groups of people to perform were from Dalmally School. They share their head teacher with Inveraray. Next was our group, then 3 groups from Inveraray. Four pupils, including our Marie, performed the whole poem by themselves.
The judges for the afternoon were Mr Stark from the Burns’ Society and Dr Campbell, the minister. Once we had all performed they went off to decide on the winners and we had a chance to chat to people.
The winners of the Best Group were Dalmally group 2, Best P6 was Marie, Best P7 (joint) were Tilly and Morgan from Inveraray. The overall winner of the competition was Eilidh Cameron (P7) from Inveraray. Everyone who took part got a certificate. The individual winners got books of Burns’ poems too.
